Don’t think a copy edit will quite do the trick?
As writers, we’ve all been there. That’s where a developmental edit comes in. When your manuscript needs some tough love, but you don’t know how to go about it.
What we do for you:
- Evaluate your overall plot
- Trim the fat (or add missing parts)
- Help you put your scenes in the best possible spot to tell your story
- Find the characters’ voices you want
Like with copy edits, we make extensive use of track changes, but this type of editing is more comment heavy than suggested changes to text. We’re focusing on the story more than the prose you use to construct it.
How it works:
- First, we read your manuscript and sketch it out for an overall view of the story.
- On a phone call, IM chat, or video meeting (Whichever works for you), we discuss our findings, what your goals are, and how we can take this to the next level.
- We work with your story in sections to get everything to work together the best way possible.
- An additional three meetings are included.
- All developmental edits then receive a final copy edit. You’ll be adding or rewriting text, so you’ll want that final pass.
Price: $2500 for 80,000 words (or $.031 per word.)
